What do you want to be when you grow up? That is a hard question when you are still in school….but we hope you will think about creating your own job as one choice. Join us in celebrating the first annual "Entrepreneurship Week USA", February 24 - March 3, 2007 by creating a great story about a possible future, and winning a prize too.

Dear Students:
Emily the Entrepreneur is a full sized "fashion type" doll, but Emily is ALL BUSINESS! Write a story about how Emily became successful with her own company and she can be yours. Over 3000 dolls will be distributed nationwide as a reward for your good story, so get writing. Tell us what business she is in, how she got started, how she solves the problems that come up, and why she likes working at the job she created. It's your story so there are no wrong answers. Some stories will be selected to be featured on a website about Emily so this is also your chance to get your story on The Web.
Send your story, and 5 dollars to help cover shipping costs to the Consortium
for Entrepreneurship Education and mail to:
EMILY
1601 W. Fifth Ave. #199
Columbus, OH 43212
Remember to include the address to which you want Emily shipped and your e-mail address, if you have one, so we notify you when the story winners are posted on the Emily Website. Also include your name, your grade, and the name of your school. Get writing now because Emily is a one time only, limited supply offer and this offer ends January 15th of 2007.

Dear Parents:
The "Emily the Entrepreneur" writing event, sponsored by The Consortium for Entrepreneurship Education in connection with The Kauffman Foundation, is designed to create awareness for the first annual "EntrepreneurshipWeek USA" and to encourage creative writing about careers. This Week was established by the US House of Representatives and will be celebrated nationwide, February 24th through March 3rd of 2007. Creating awareness that "being one's own boss is a viable option" is our goal, and we encourage you to participate with your child on this project.
Our children are America's future. We believe, in the emerging World Market, that we must nurture the Entrepreneurial Spirit that makes us stand out from the rest of the planet and continue what has made this country great. It is our belief that you can't start encouraging your child to learn about careers too soon and it is our intention that Emily can help plant the seeds for the Entrepreneurial Spirit to Grow!

Dear Teachers:
Feel free to adopt this project for your classroom. In addition to challenging students to test their ideas about the future, and possible careers, it encourages student writing skills and communications. You might want to pick the best stories from your class and submit your winner for recognition. The same rules apply as for students that send their stories to us on their own.
Check out information about activities for the classroom that encourage learning about becoming an entrepreneur at the Consortium web site www.entre-ed.org. We have a special section just for "Emily the Entrepreneur". And there are great numbers of other resources there for you as well. You may even want to join the Consortium and attend our annual conference that brings teachers together from all over the US. We hope you will think about ways to CELEBRATE "EntrepreneurshipWeek USA", February 24 - March 3, 2007 in your local area.
Thanks to YourHomework.com for joining us as a Partner in supporting Emily and the advance of entrepreneurship education in the schools.
